About Attendance
It all started with a pop choir and more than 70 singers. Today the app runs on more than 1,500 Nextcloud installations – wherever someone needs to know exactly who is coming.

Hi! I'm Florian, a product developer based in Germany. I built Attendance for our pop choir: over 70 singers across soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. I'd simply had enough of spreadsheets and WhatsApp chaos.
We had already moved to Nextcloud for privacy reasons. So it made sense to run the app right there – that way everything stays in one place.
The Story
The Problem
With over 70 members, a headcount of yeses told us nothing. We needed to know: are there enough basses for the new piece? Are we short on tenors again? You can't read that out of a spreadsheet. And out of a group chat even less.
The Solution
So I built an app that simply reads the Nextcloud groups we already had. Today it says: 12 sopranos, 10 altos, 8 tenors, 9 basses. That works. And because we check in on site, we know afterwards who actually showed up.
Open Source
The Nextcloud app is free and open source. Found a bug? Report it. Missing a feature? Write to me – or build it yourself. The mobile app for iOS and Android is a separate product with a subscription: it pays for the push server and keeps the Nextcloud app free for everyone.
The Future
Almost every new feature starts with feedback from someone who actually uses the app. As long as that keeps happening, this keeps going – hopefully for many years.
